Role Description
The Head of Marketing is responsible for overseeing the marketing activities of the WA Marketing Association (WAMA), a not-for-profit, volunteer-run industry association. The Head of Marketing is a member of the WAMA Committee and is expected to attend relevant monthly meetings.
In this role, you will lead a subcommittee of marketing professionals to manage the association’s brand, promote events, and create engaging social media content to support the organisation’s objectives. This is a volunteer position that requires a commitment to the growth and success of the marketing industry in Western Australia.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement marketing strategies:
- Collaborate with the marketing subcommittee to develop comprehensive marketing strategies aligned with the association’s goals and objectives.
2. Manage the association’s brand:
- Develop and maintain the WAMA brand identity that reflects the values and vision of the association.
- Oversee the brand guidelines and ensure consistent application across all marketing materials and platforms.
- Monitor brand perception and implement strategies to enhance brand awareness and reputation.
3. Promote association events:
- Collaborate with the Events subcommittee to develop marketing plans and promotional materials for association events.
- Utilise available channels to promote events and drive attendance.
- Measure the success of event marketing campaigns and identify areas for improvement.
4. Create engaging social media content:
- Develop a social media strategy to enhance the association’s online presence and engagement.
- Coordinate with the Marketing subcommittee to create compelling content for various social media platforms, including Facebook and LinkedIn.
- Monitor social media channels, respond to inquiries, and actively engage with the association’s online community.
5. Manage the WAMA website
- Oversee management of the associations website (wearewama.org.au) and ensure the content is updated and accurate.
6. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders:
- Work closely with the association’s committees and volunteers to align marketing efforts with overall organisational goals.
- Liaise with external partners, sponsors, and industry professionals to maximize collaboration opportunities and enhance the association’s visibility.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in marketing, preferably in a leadership or management role.
- Strong understanding of marketing principles and best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in digital marketing platforms and social media management.
- Creative mindset with the ability to develop innovative marketing strategies.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of volunteers.
- Passion for the marketing industry and a commitment to the association’s mission.
