WAMA (WA Marketing Association Inc.) is a not-for-profit organisation that champions the WA marketing community. We provide a space for marketing professionals to connect and share knowledge on industry best practice, and facilitate braver and more effective marketing practices. Our events, collaborations with organisations and industry bodies, and profiling of local standout work from WA individuals, agencies, and brands foster the community.
Position summary
The Marketing Lead is responsible for overseeing the marketing activities of the WA Marketing Association (WAMA), a not-for-profit, volunteer-run industry association. This person will manage the association’s communications and marketing strategies, ensuring effective promotion of events, key initiatives (e.g. DEI) and delivery of a sustainable content strategy (with a subcommittee to assist). This is a volunteer position that requires a commitment to the growth and success of the marketing industry in Western Australia.
Key responsibilities
1. Marketing taskforce management
- Develop an appropriate structure for the WAMA marketing team
- Recruit and onboard new team members to meet marketing and communication needs
- Lead and guide the marketing team, reporting into WAMA committee
2. Develop and implement marketing strategies
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop comprehensive marketing strategies aligned with the association’s goals and objectives
3. Manage the association’s brand
- Work alongside our Brand Lead on the association’s brand and design direction to enhance brand awareness and reputation
4. Promote association events
- Collaborate with the events team to develop marketing plans and promotional materials for association events
- Utilise available channels to promote events and drive attendance
- Measure the success of event marketing campaigns and identify areas for improvement
5. Manage the WAMA website
- Oversee management of the association’s website (wearewama.org.au) and ensure the content is up to date and accurate
Qualifications and skills
- Client-side marketing experience
- Proven experience in marketing in a leadership or management role so that you can be a strong team leader & recruit and manage a team
- Extensive strategy development experience
- Strong understanding of marketing principles and best practices
- Creative mindset with the ability to develop innovative marketing strategies
- Strong organisational and project management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of volunteers
- Passion for the marketing industry and a commitment to the association’s mission
Time involved
Approximately 10-14 hours per month, with peaks around major events.
